A Busy Term for Foreign Languages
The Foreign Languages and Classics Department has had a very busy few terms. Firstly, we took two of our students to Berkeley Primary School to help out with the ‘Celebrating Spanish People’ day. A huge thank you to Noah and Alfie and to Miss Warner and Laura, our Spanish Assistant for all of their hard work.
We are proud to be the first department to have run a residential trip since Covid and 32 students set off to the North during the Easter Holidays. We went to Chester, Hadrian’s Wall and York and lots of people followed the trip on Instagram. The students were fantastic and a great time was had by all learning about the Romans in Britain which is part of the current GCSE Latin course.
The Year 12 Classical Civilisation AS course also enjoyed a trip to the Ashmolean in Oxford to see some of the artefacts relating to their Imperial Image and World of the Hero courses for AS Level.
Finally, after a very full on few weeks with speaking assessments for languages, some students went to Oxford to do their speaking exams for Italian, Turkish and Japanese. We have also had students taking extra qualifications in Polish and Russian this year.
Well done to all of our students taking exams over the next few months.
