Science Live!

Fourteen Marling students were drawn from the hat for a day in Birmingham at Science Live! The event was an amazing opportunity to see guest lecturers speak about their fields of expertise in science. Prof. Mark Miodownik gave a thought provoking talk about tackling the issue of plastic waste.Prof. Robert Winston was particularly entertaining when discussing human reproduction. Prof. Steve Jones, a legend in genetics explored the ethical and biological arguments surrounding nature or nurture? Dr Kate Lancaster looked at the future possibilities of solving the world’s energy crisis by using nuclear fusion. And for students with an interest in astronomy Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock (of Sky at Night fame) discussed her love affair with The Moon. The students who attended Science Live! behaved impeccably throughout and were a credit to Marling School.
